welcome to Day 3

Today we’re talking about what a real week looks like as a vacation planner and how choosing your dream client can make this business feel exciting instead of overwhelming.

A Week in the Life of a Busy Parent and Vacation Planner.

Let’s be honest, most of us aren’t building businesses from quiet home offices with endless free time and uninterrupted focus blocks.

Real life looks a little different.

We’re working during nap time, after bedtime when the house finally goes quiet, in the carpool line with one hand on the steering wheel and the other answering emails, or squeezing in tasks while dinner is on the stove and someone is asking where their shoes are.

But here’s the good news. Being a vacation planner actually fits into this kind of life.

It doesn’t require a traditional 9–5 setup. It doesn’t demand hours of uninterrupted time. Instead, it works in the margins of your day. Those small pockets of time you already have, even if they don’t feel like much. Little by little, it adds up.

And that’s what makes this model so powerful for busy parents. You’re not building in spite of your life, you’re building around it.

So what does that actually look like in real life? Here’s a realistic week in my life as a wife, mom and vacation planner.

Monday: Catch Up & Follow Up

Coffee in one hand, emails open in the other.

  • Replying to new trip inquiries

  • Following up with existing clients

  • Reply to any emails from host agency

Easy, productive start to the week. About 1–2 hours.

Tuesday: Supplier Education

This is the fun part! Researching destinations to build dream trips.

  • Stay up to date on any updates to supplier training

  • Invest in supplier knowledgeability

  • Looking for deals to share with clients

I might do this while folding laundry. About 1–2 hours.

Wednesday: Marketing & Visibility

No complicated strategies. Just showing up consistently.

  • Posting a travel tip on social media

  • Share featured offers with clients

  • Send out text or email campaigns

A little weekly connection keeps your clients thinking about their next vacation. About 1–2 hours.

Thursday: Bookings & Client Support

This is where income becomes real.

  • Confirming bookings

  • Sending travel details

  • Answering client questions

Avoid distractions. Careful attention to detail is essential. About 1–2 hours.

Friday: Weekly Wrap Up

End the week on a high note and set up next week for success.

  • Tracking commissions

  • Plan next week’s priorities

  • Pack client care packages for booked vacations

  • Drop off happy mail at the post office

A little weekly reflection and prep keeps everything running smoothly and your clients feeling loved. About 1–2 hours.

Weekend: Light Touch (Optional)

  • Supporting traveling clients if needed.

  • Mostly enjoying family time

Create space to enjoy family time and recharge for the week ahead.

This isn’t about hustling nonstop. This business gets to fit into your life, not the other way around.

you do not have to have it all figured out to begin.

You don’t need endless free time, a perfect schedule, or a massive audience online. This business was made for real life. For the busy moms, the working parents, the dreamers squeezing in time after their 9-5.

The small pockets of time add up. One email sent during nap time. One quote built after bedtime. One client who tells their friend about you. That’s how momentum starts.

And as you continue building, you’ll begin to notice something else changing too. You’ll stop just dreaming about vacations and start planning them with confidence. You’ll begin seeing opportunities where you once saw limitations. The trips that once felt “too expensive” or “maybe someday” start to feel possible.

That’s the beauty of this business. It grows with you. It fits into your season of life, and over time, it can create more freedom, flexibility, and unforgettable experiences for your family.

So keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep dreaming bigger. Because this isn’t just about booking vacations for other people. It’s about creating a life where your family gets to experience more joy, more adventure, and more memories together too.
